10:00am-11:00am Meet The Horses **YPP**
Come down to the stable and learn all about horses and their care.
Wednesday, August 30
11:00am – Noon Pine Cone Forest Creatures
Join Tara Caldwell at the Nature Center for a fun craft project of making forest critters out of pine cones.
1:30pm-2:30pm Tree Hike **YPP**
Meet me at the volley ball parking near Cabin 3 and we’ll hike down Howard’s Lick Trail and through the picnic area to see how many of the 35 native species of trees we can identify and talk about their importance for a balanced environment.
3:00pm-4:00pm Nature Center **YPP**
Come on down to the Nature Center and check out all our nature displays and creek aquariums displays. The Nature Center is at the end of the Rec Building.
Thursday, August 31
10:00am – 11:00am Medicinal Plant Garden Tour **YPP**
Join Tara Caldwell at the home of the Assistant Superintendent for a garden tour of medicinal plants and learn all about Mother Nature’s medicine cabinet
1:30pm-4:00pm Nature Center **YPP**
Come visit the Nature Center where you will find all kinds of interesting displays and our creek aquariums of fish and other critters, plus our nature library loaded with guide books to identify everything from mushrooms to insects.
Friday, September 1
9:30am-10:30am Bug Safari **YPP**
Join me for a hunt for bugs around the Rec Building and surrounding field. Butterfly nets and guide books provided for a fun program of catch, ID and release. Meet at the nature center.
1:00am-3:30pm Nature Center **YPP**
Come visit the Nature Center where you will find all kinds of interesting displays and our creek aquariums of fish and other critters, plus our nature library loaded with guide books to identify everything from mushrooms to insects.
4:00pm-5:00pm Nature Bingo
Come down to the Nature Center for a different and wild game of Bingo. Family fun and prizes.
8:00pm-9:00pm Walk In The Twilight Zone **YPP**
Let’s take a night hike and look for bats, owls, and other night creatures! We’ll learn how these animals get around in the dark. Bring a flashlight and meet me at the pool bath House.
Saturday, September 2
9:30am – 10:30 Fungus Amongus**YPP**
Join me on a hunt for some of the many mushrooms found in the park and learn about their place in the forest ecology. Be ready to think like a detective for some are hard to find. Meet at the Nature Center at the end of the Rec Hall.
11:00am- Noon Creek Critter Crawl **YPP**
Let’s go search Howard’s Lick for aquatic wildlife and learn about stream ecology! After collecting cool critters, we’ll identify them and what role they serve in the ecosystem and release them. Meet in front of the pool house and be ready to explore the creek and get your feet wet!
7:00pm-8:00pm Campfire Time!
Meet me at the Fire Pit across from the Rec Hall to enjoy a campfire & S’mores. Park supplies the fixings and roasting forks. If it rains, we will use the big stone fireplace in the Rec Hall.
