Visit Hardy

Rolling hills and scenic landscape in Hardy County, West Virginia, perfect for outdoor adventures.

What is a Convention and Visitors Bureau, anyway? Think of us as our county’s bullhorn and bulletin board wrapped into one. Mostly we want visitors to fall in love with Hardy County just like those of us who already live here, and we do that by connecting you to the best places to eat, stay, explore, and make memories.

Visit Hardy is proud to support and promote the people and places that make Hardy County a standout destination in West Virginia. Tourism isn’t just about travel, it strengthens our economy while celebrating our heritage and traditions and helping the community thrive.

You’ll find brochures and maps at West Virginia’s Welcome Centers, our visitors center in Moorefield, and at many local businesses across the county. An up-to-date events calendar is on this website and we maintain active social media channels.  We also provide advertising grants for Hardy County tourism related businesses and organizations so that they can get their word out, too.

Visit Hardy’s mission is to strengthen and sustain Hardy County’s tourism industry through education and collaboration and by promoting the awareness, visibility, and uniqueness of the County as a travel destination.

To do that successfully, we

1) Support community development efforts that diversify, strengthen and expand Hardy County’s tourism industry there by economically sustaining the County;

2) Develop and maintain local and regional partnerships engaging in regular and supportive discourse and collaborations; and

3) Support our community and local tourism partners through training, information sharing, and grants

Founded in 2009, Visit Hardy is a 501c3 nonprofit organization accredited by and a member of the WV Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus, WV Hospitality and Travel Association, WV Association of Museums, and the American Association of State & Local History.

Visit Hardy exists to market Hardy County as a tourism destination, support the existing tourism industry, and work with community partners to develop new tourism assets. In addition to our primary advertising campaign, we work with our industry partners by providing grant funds that will leverage their advertising dollars and expand the tourism industry as a whole. The two grant programs include the Tourism Advertising Program and the Barn Quilt Matching Grants.

Visit Hardy’s Tourism Advertising Program (TAP) offers two grant opportunities to Hardy County tourism-related organizations and businesses: The Event Advertising Grant, and the Print Literature Grant. Qualified TAP grant applicants may apply for up to $500 for advertising events or up to $350 for print literature. TAP grants are reimbursement grants and require a cash match. The purpose of the TAP Grants is to encourage visitors to stay overnight. To do so, advertising for an event and a portion of all print literature must be distributed at least 50 miles outside of Hardy County.

Print literature distributed to WV Welcome Centers must be approved first by the WV Department of Tourism. Check their site for “Industry Partners” information.

The Barn Quilt Matching Grant was developed to support the Hardy County Barn Quilt Trail. Applicant may apply for up to 50% (maximum of $250) of the cost of a barn quilt created by HCBQT/LREF. The grant funds are remitted to the Lost River Educational Foundation and applied to your barn quilt cost. There are a limited number of grants awarded each year and an applicant can receive only one Barn Quilt grant.

Please read the guidelines and logo usage requirements, and individual applications to understand the eligibility criteria and the differences between each grant.
